The 9th Street Parlor, founded in 2008, is based on the in's and out's of barbershop babble, urban-artist lifestyle and everything in between.  Although its name stems from a separate entity, the parlor believes the style in which a person's hair is cut is an artform all its own.  And we'd like to add it to the list.  But do not define us as the barbershop that got creative.  This is the artist’s mind, from the spark to the process to the product, the concept and the content.  Pulsating with the heartbeat of the street, we are what we do: we are creativity.  This site is the cause, the effect, and everything in between.  The Parlor is the window to creative insight with no boundaries.

Robin "Lefty" Capili, Founder

Born and raised in the mean streets of northern New Jersey.  Born and raised with a pen in hand.  Studied, learned, and grasped the bedrock of all art.  Inspired by all art forms, movies, music, photography, graffiti, fashion, urban culture and lifestyle.  All in the meantime, self-taught in the art of cutting hair.  Continued studies in Art and Design, then later took on the role of designer.  Jumped on several bandwagons, then jumped off.  An all around artist at heart, but a designer by choice.  Self-driven, curious, foolish, and hungry.  Jack of all trades, master of none, though often better than a master of one.

"Stay curious, stay foolish, stay hungry."
