Fahamu Pecou | "Blak Presidential: The Inauguration"
Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at 8:00AM
Lyons Wier Gallery recently hosted the opening reception for Fahamu Pecou's newest body of work entitled, "Blak Presidential: The Inauguration". Pecou is a well-accomplished artist with a much reputable history. A solo exhibition at New York's Lyons Wier Gallery is just another notch to add to his belt.

Pecou's modern take on pop-fueled propaganda raises questions and eyebrows by challenging his audience on the preconceived notion towards controversial celebrity glamour, black masculinity, and African American culture.

In this newest installment, his pieces display questionable characters in questionable scenarios on questionable media with questionable representation. This is meant to distort reality and perception; to create and destroy simultaneously.

The turnout was exceptional, the art was inspiring and the company was super. Make sure to check out the events page for more flick coverage! Shout out to the iLL-Literacy fam for the heads up! Thanks! And also to Fahamu Pecou; keep doin' what you're' doin'!
P.S. Pecou got a dope do!
"Stay curious, stay foolish, stay hungry."
